Almost exactly 100 years ago Margaret Sanger, the founder of what is now called Planned Parenthood, began her crusade for reproductive freedom. She believed:
A woman has a right to control her body.
Everyone should be able to decide when and whether to have a child.
Every child should be wanted and loved.
Women are as entitled as men to sexual pleasure and fulfillment.
In the last 100 years we have made tremendous strides in reproductive freedom for women. But recent attempts have been made to turn back the clock and not only deny a woman’s right to choose, but to restrict access and funding for birth control and reproductive health care.

Carol Rashawnna Williams will have her painting 'Poverty Line' on exhibit in the artshow Who Does She Thinks She Is October 4, 2012 at Tashiro Kaplan Arts Complex, Corridor Gallery
In the Last year or so there have been many attempts by conservative politicians to deny a woman's right to chose and to deny access and funding for women's reproductive health care. 'It's time for women to stop being politely angry.'
And it is time for us to put our artist's voices to the anger and concern over these issues.
